The following curriculum will provide teachers with basic film production programming and lesson plans. This curriculum will be of interest to teachers beginning work in media literacy and film education.

Using this curriculum, students will develop an understanding of a variety of media texts. They will learn to identify media forms as well as conventions and techniques used to create meaning in different media forms. Film is a popular medium often used to depict events and tell stories from history. The depiction of an event or era in a “Hollywood” film may not be historically accurate it and it can play a strong role in developing an understanding or perception in the mind of the viewer. The following is a curriculum resource designed to assist educators develop critical viewing skills in their students as they incorporate historically set films into their coursework; equipping students with the necessary tools to dissect elements of the film including the historical facts, story and perspective represented. Into The Pixel Study Guide At the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival®, thousands of visitors to the Ontario College of Art and Design were engaged by a transformational exhibit, Into the Pixel. In response, the Youth Learning department of the Toronto International Film Festival Group collaborated with an interactive-industry expert representing the International Game Developers Association to create the Into the Pixel Study Guide, an introduction to game design and careers in interactive entertainment using imagery from Into the Pixel.
